Web Browser Privacy Tips

If you are using a shared computer (in a
dorm, apartment, computer lab, etc.), please follow procedure
detailed below. This will help ensure that your SCC OnLine
course log in information is kept private and for your use only.
Note: If you are not sure
which version of Internet Explorer you are using, begin by
launching Internet Explorer. Next, click “Help” then “About
Internet Explorer” (the version information should appear). If
you do not see the “Help” option at the top of the screen, then
it is safe to assume that you are using version 7. |

Make sure that you’ve
logged out of your online class and that Internet Explorer
version 7 is still running

Click the “Tools” button
(at the far right side of the screen) then click “Internet
Options”

Click the “Delete”
button

From the choices that
appear, you may wish to use the “Delete All” option to remove
browsing history, cookies, temporary files, and passwords.
Click “Yes” when prompted.

Click “OK”

Make sure that you’ve
logged out of your online class and that Internet Explorer
version 6 is still running

On the menu bar at the
top of the screen, click “Tools” and then “Internet Options”

Click the “Delete
Cookies” button (please wait for the process to complete), click
the “Delete Files” button (again, please wait for the process to
complete), and click the “Clear History” button
Note: At this
point, you may also want to set the “Days to keep pages in
history” option to zero.

Click the “Content” tab
then click the “AutoComplete” button

Click the “Clear
Passwords” option.
Note: you may
also wish to uncheck the AutoComplete option for user names and
passwords

Click “OK” then “OK”

Also, be sure
that you do not share your SCC student ID number, your WebAdvisor
log in information, etc. with others.
